This fun non-competitive clinic is a great chance to introduce your Kindergartner to Lacrosse. Girls in Kindergarten will have practice once a week for 1 hour on Sundays (time TBD).   All of the girls will practice at the same time working on beginner lacrosse skills.   

 

There is no uniform to purchase, as HGYL Pinneys or T-shirts will be given out to all players as part of the program. The Little Laxers Clinic begin in late April and goes to early June.

PRACTICES: During these clinic-style practices, the girls will work on developing their basic fundamental lacrosse skills while striving to maximize player enthusiasm and a love for the sport. Players will use soft lacrosse balls, as we try to limit throwing and catching at this age (or until stick handling and hand-eye coordination is developed).

On Sundays: Kindergarten Players will need the following labeled equipment (see equipment options below):

  • GIRLS’ Lacrosse stick
  • Footwear:  Cleats (no metal spikes), turf shoes, or sneakers can be worn on the turf field.
  • Water bottle

For any end of the season Play Days or MYL Jamboree Games: Players will need the following labeled equipment:

  • GIRLS’ Lacrosse stick
  • Mouth guard 
  • Goggles
  • Footwear:  Cleats (no metal spikes), turf shoes, or sneakers can be worn on the turf field.
  • Water bottle
  • Optional: Fitted Gloves and ASTM-approved headgear

What is the Kindergarten Little Laxers Program?

Girls in kindergarten will have practice once a week for 1 hour.  This is a non-competitive clinic. All of the girls will practice at the same time.  There is no uniform to purchase. The clinics will begin in late April and continue until early June. 

What equipment does my child need?

Girls in Kindergarten only need a Girls Starter Lacrosse Stick and should wear cleats or sneakers for play on turf or grass. 

Does my child need a uniform?

Kindergarteners do not need uniforms and all Little Laxers will be provided a HGYL Pinney or T-Shirt at the start of the season. 

Who coaches the teams?

Hopkinton Girls Youth Lacrosse relies on its parents as volunteer coaches.  No lacrosse experience is required to become a coach. HGYL offers coaches clinics during the pre-season to help coaches prepare and practice plans are also shared amongst coaches.
