5th & 6th Grade Girls Lacrosse
This program is a three-day-per-week commitment, with two practices during the week and a game with their Classic team on Sundays. However, if your player signs up for and makes the Select team, it will be a 4 day-per-week commitment, with the additional Select game played usually on Fridays. This division, like all of the divisions in our program, is organized by school grade. Sign-ups are done on a first-come-first-served basis. Multiple teams with balanced talent will be formed in this grade group with no cuts and everyone will play. In addition to 5/6 Classic Program, the 5/6 Select team will play to be competitive and equal playing time should not be expected. It is expected that players make a commitment to both Classic practices and games.
Positions for U13 ( 5th/6th Grade ): 12v12 ( 11 + Goalie ) plays:
- 1 square of Attack (4 Attackers)
- 3 Midfielders
- 1 square of Defense (4 Defenders)
- Goalie
Rules for U13 ( 5th/6th Grade ):
- Games are 12v12 and played on a full, regulation size field.
- Restraining Line = 7 field players allowed over midfield line (4 + Goalie back on RL)
- 1 pass required once ball crosses midfield
- Modified checking rule (below shoulder)
In most games, girls will play one half at attack and one at defense. Middies may stay in the same spot the entire game. Girls will play a variety of positions throughout the season to ensure maximum exposure and understanding of the entire game. The only exceptions may be those who request to be a full-time goalie. We do not assign positions at this level.
- The biggest difference between 3/4 and 5/6 are the size of the field and the introduction of stick checking.
- Girls in these games are allowed to check their opponents below the waist. This component changes the way the game is played significantly and puts a greater emphasis on accurate passes, catching and ground ball technique.
